Support of Lifetime Membership and Achievement for Ernest Montoya, Ruben Acosta, Manuel Martinez, Margie Martinez and Thomas Vasquez

WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens is this nation’s oldest and largest Latino organization, founded in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 17, 1929; and

WHEREAS, LULAC throughout its history has committed itself to the principles that Latinos have equal access to opportunities in employment, education, housing and healthcare; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas Vasquez, has been a member of LULAC 365 and 120, since 1958; and

WHEREAS, the following members have dedicated unselfishly for several decades, committed to working on behalf of the League to improve the quality of life for the Hispanic Community of New Mexico; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ernest Montoya has been an active member of Taos Council 78, since 1955; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ruben Acosta was a founding and charter member of Deming Council 205, since 1957; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Margie Martinez and Manuel Martinez have been members Hurley Council 400, since1965 and both have served Council Presidents and District Officers; and

WHEREAS. Ms. Donna Tracy was one of the founding members of Silver City Council 8003, in October of 1981, she and her late husband Apolonio Sierra where instrumental in achieving three National Council of the year Award; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that New Mexico LULAC recognize these great individual for the tireless efforts and dedication to the noble questing in promoting social and economic parity for all Hispanic at all levels within our American society; and

FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, The New Mexico LULAC grants and distinguishes their service, dedication and commitment to the League by bestowing upon them lifetime membership of New Mexico LULAC.
