Resolution To Partner with MALDEF on Reform Expulsion and Suspensions from Schools

Whereas, over one million students are either expelled or suspended annually from schools in California; and

Whereas the California Legislature has before it legislative bills that call for the reform of expulsion and suspension policies that have led to a disproportionate number of Latinas being expelled or suspended from school; and

Whereas MALDEF has initiated proposals for reforms in expulsion and suspensions in California;

Therefore, be it resolved that California LULAC partner with MALDEF to reform the expulsion and suspensions policies that have led to over one million expulsions and suspensions in California, join in support of legislation that will reform these policies, and urges Governor Brown to sign comprehensive forms of expulsion and suspension policies
