Resolution to Recognize the Equal Rights and Benefits of Hispanic Media for the Bilingual Hispanic Voter

WHEREAS, 84 years ago, the founders of the League of Latin American Citizens, (LULAC) joined together to establish an organization that would become the largest, oldest and successful Hispanic civil rights and service organization in the United States, and

WHEREAS, the registered Hispanic voters in the Dallas/Fort-Worth Metro area, Houston/Galveston Metro area and the Austin Capitol Metro area have over 1,300,000 registered Hispanic voters, and of those 90% are “Tejanos” that have no local 24 hour/7 Day Tejano radio or television formatted programming, and

WHEREAS, The Tejanos in this State of Texas have served this state and our country in all of its conflicts and wars and be it known that their culture as Tejanos, must be preserved and respected, and

WHEREAS, this bilingual Hispanic media would have the access to the voting Hispanic public in all major United States Metro areas, and

WHEREAS, this bilingual Hispanic media would help to education and preserve our Hispanic heritage for our future Hispanics and the general public, and

WHEREAS, this bilingual Hispanic media would help to education and encourage corporate sponsors/advertises to our billion dollar buying power, and

WHEREAS, this bilingual Hispanic media would help in our efforts to rebuild a stronger United States of America by way of this media communication. Now

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that our rightful access to Bilingual Hispanic Media be integrated in the major Hispanic Metro areas of these United States of America and Puerto Rico, and once this resolution is approved at a national level, it shall be sent to the Secretary of Commerce, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Federal Communication Commission, and the Congress of the United States of America
