Jeffrey Prieto is currently the General Counsel of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. With nearly two decades of federal government service, Prieto has held significant roles across various agencies. Notably, he served as an Attorney-Advisor in the EPA’s Office of Water and as the General Counsel of the United States Department of Agriculture under the Obama-Biden administration. At the U.S. Department of Justice, he worked in the Environment and Natural Resources Division, holding positions such as Trial Attorney, Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General, and General Counsel. Before his current role, Prieto was the General Counsel for the Los Angeles Community College District, the largest in the nation. He earned his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and holds a Master’s in Public Affairs/Urban and Regional Planning from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs.
