Eva Hermandez-Simmons brings over two decades of dedicated service to the environmental movement, showcasing her expertise as an organizer, campaigner, and strategist on local, national, and international platforms. Notably, she recently concluded her tenure as the Managing Director of the Sierra Club, the esteemed and largest grassroots environmental organization in the US. During her nearly 15 years with the Sierra Club, Eva led initiatives nationwide to empower communities and protect the planet. Her leadership played a pivotal role in driving organizational transformation within the Sierra Club, overseeing change management endeavors to modernize the institution, bolstering its systems, structures, culture, and effectiveness.

Currently, Eva collaborates with The Management Center, supporting social justice leaders across the US in establishing equitable, sustainable, and results-oriented organizations. She also lends her expertise to various boards, including the Building Equity & Alignment Initiative, GAVA (GoAustin/Vamos Austin), Friends of the Earth, Undoing Racism Austin, Mothers Out Front, and Environment Texas.

Eva’s commitment to fundraising and innovative philanthropic partnerships is evident, as highlighted by her recent involvement with the BEA grants awards committee, where she facilitated the allocation of significant resources to grassroots organizations through an inclusive awards process. She firmly believes in the transformative power of individuals, communities, mentorship, and robust management practices in effecting cultural change, consistently aligning her actions with her core values of justice and integrity.
