Stephen Cloobeck

Stephen J. Cloobeck is a philanthropist, activist, investor, and entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience in hospitality, real estate development, and civic engagement. Best known for his appearances on Undercover Boss, Cloobeck has led extensive efforts across California to develop actionable solutions that Make California Affordable, Livable, and Workable™. Over the past year, he’s met with hundreds of leaders, from elected officials to educators and union workers, to champion bold, community-driven policy and economic reform.

Appointed by U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke as the founding Chairman of Brand USA, Cloobeck worked with the White House, Congress, and federal agencies to promote international travel to the U.S. He also played a key role in the renaming of the Las Vegas airport in honor of his late friend and mentor, Senator Harry Reid.

Cloobeck is a major supporter of charities including the Los Angeles Dream Center, Keep Memory Alive, and the Brent Shapiro Foundation. In 2012, he launched the Diamond Resorts International Foundation to assist employees facing unexpected life events. A graduate of Brandeis University with a degree in bio-psychology, Cloobeck is the author of Checking In: Hospitality-Driven Thinking, Business, and You. He lives in Southern California.
