Rickyana Estrada

Rickyana Estrada is a culturally responsive educator with over two decades of experience in K–12 education, with a focus on middle school English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Gifted Education. She currently serves as the English Language Arts Master Teacher at Wakefield Middle School in Tucson, Arizona, where she champions academic equity and culturally relevant instruction.

From 2016 to 2023, Estrada served as a Master Teacher in Culturally Responsive Pedagogy for Tucson Unified School District (TUSD), mentoring fellow educators, co-developing inclusive curriculum, and leading professional development initiatives district-wide. Her leadership has extended beyond the classroom in roles such as Co-Coordinator for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant, instructional coach, curriculum writer, and conference facilitator.

Estrada’s work has consistently focused on closing opportunity gaps, particularly in Title I schools, and building inclusive learning environments that affirm students’ identities and cultures. She has also contributed to district-wide leadership development and education reform initiatives across Arizona.

An advocate for educational justice and community empowerment, Estrada serves as the Arizona Education Chair for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and holds leadership roles with the Arizona Council for Social Studies. In 2025, she was honored as TUSD’s Culturally Responsive Middle School Teacher of the Year.

Estrada holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona. She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and remains a powerful voice for culturally inclusive and equity-driven education.
