Sofia Fernandez Gold is a Legal Counsel at the Democracy Defenders Fund, where she leverages her extensive background in civil rights litigation to protect democratic institutions. Originally from a background rooted in academic excellence, Sofia’s commitment to advocacy began during her time at Brown University, where she graduated magna cum laude in Political Science and Public Policy. Her prolific career includes serving as Counsel at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and gaining foundational experience through roles at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Office of the New York State Attorney General. A graduate of New York University School of Law, she utilizes her legal expertise to litigate landmark cases and provide strategic counsel on issues ranging from voting rights to educational equity. Today, Sofia continues to drive systemic change by focusing on the intersection of poverty alleviation, social services, and high-impact civil rights action.
