Tara Murray is a distinguished civil and human rights attorney, advocate, and prominent policy leader with a career defined by a steadfast commitment to racial justice and equity. Drawing from a rigorous academic background with degrees from Howard University, Harvard Law School, and Georgetown University Law Center, Murray’s lifelong dedication to advocacy began through significant roles as a public defender, law instructor, and legal director of an international human rights NGO. A former White House Fellow and Special Assistant to President Biden, she leveraged her expertise within the Biden-Harris Administration to serve as Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, driving vital initiatives for underserved communities both domestically and internationally. Today, Tara continues to drive systemic change as the Executive Director of the National Urban League's Washington Bureau and Senior Vice President for Policy and Advocacy, bridging the gap between high-level federal policy and grassroots civil rights empowerment.
