LULAC Elects New Leader

Roman Palomares, LULAC Chief of Staff and the LULAC Chairman of Military and Veteran Affairs, elected LULAC National President effective June 29, 2024

Las Vegas, Nevada, and Washington, D.C. – June 29, 2024 - The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the Nation’s largest and oldest Latino civil rights volunteer-based organization, today announced it has elected Roman Palomares as LULAC National President effective June 29, 2024.

Roman Palomares, a Vietnam Era veteran and retired Federal Executive, is a national housing expert and currently serves as the LULAC Chief of Staff and Chairman of Military and Veteran Affairs. Palomares earned a Washington Fellowship from HUD, a master's in public administration from University of Southern California and has had successful 40-year career with the Federal Government for which he received numerous awards. These experiences inspired him to start his own management consultant firm that provides technical assistance to local government entities throughout the United States. He teaches, develops, inspires, and mentors hundreds of local government and housing board members that have responsibility of overseeing local government agencies across the United States.

“Roman has been an integral part of our organization for over 40 years, bringing a deep commitment to advancing the values and mission of LULAC which has contributed significantly to our growth and success,” said Juan Proaño, CEO of LULAC. “As our new National President, I am confident that he will continue to work tirelessly to amplify the voices of our communities, advocate for equitable policies for all marginalized groups including women, veterans, and the LGTBQ community, and address the pressing issues facing Latino individuals, families, and small businesses today. His vision, leadership qualities, and dedication make him the ideal candidate to lead us into this next chapter as we embark on our journey to 100 years as an organization.”

“Additionally, we are beyond grateful for Domingo’s invaluable guidance and leadership during his tenure and are confident that under Roman's leadership, we will continue to succeed on this journey of Latino excellence,” Proaño added.

“I am extremely humbled and honored to assume this new position” said Roman Palomares, new National President of LULAC. “I am committed to listening to the LULAC community’s concerns, collaborating with them to find solutions, and working together towards a future where every member of our community can thrive. I look forward to representing this organization with integrity, passion, and a relentless drive to make a positive difference as we work together to achieve the important work of LULAC and build a brighter future for all. This 95th Convention has been focused on empowering the next generation. I am very excited to continue to train and develop legacy builders that can carry the torch.”
