Open Letter Domingo Garcia Meets With White House

Thursday, January 24, 2019

To My Beloved and Respected LULAC Familia,

Today I am going into the White House and ask for your prayers and support. I know that my words and actions will reflect upon you also. Please know I take this responsibility as my sacred duty to you, the great family of LULAC.

In my heart and soul are thoughts of the 800,000 federal workers plus their families who through no fault of their own are suffering financial, emotional and yes, even physical pain. My message to the Administration: The government shutdown must end and it must end now!

From California to Florida, Puerto Rico to Washington State, Massachusetts to Texas --- LULAC stands with federal workers, DACA recipients and TPS holders. I am not going to negotiate a deal or for a photo op and least of all --- una charla con café y pan dulce.

For 90-years LULAC has stood its ground for justicia when others ran. LULAC has shouted ya basta when others went silent. Always, LULAC has lifted los indefensos when others looked away. Our federal brothers and sisters need us now and America needs them.

Stand with me today. Tell family, friends, co-workers and anyone who listens that on this day, LULAC is speaking truth to power and we will not shirk nor cower in fear. La verdad no le teme a nada ni a nadie. Truth fears nothing or no one. May God bless LULAC and God bless our great country.

Hasta la Victoria!
Domingo Garcia
LULAC National President
