Fighting for Latino Civil Rights since 1929
We need your support to continue this crucial fight
Leading the Fight for Latino Civil Rights
For nearly a century, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) has fought for the civil rights of Latinos and underserved communities, helping to secure justice in education, voting, and beyond.
But the battle is not over. Our civil rights are under attack. New laws and longstanding barriers are harming our ability to vote, our right to equal education, and our access to healthcare. These attacks are not just against each of us personally, but against the justice and fairness of our country as a whole. Now more than ever, we must unite and defend our rights, making our voices heard and our futures secure.
What We Do
Immigrant Rights
LULAC’s current legal work focuses heavily on protecting immigrant rights and immigrant families. We were the first to challenge a federal executive order that attempted to deny citizenship to U.S.-born children of immigrants, and so far we have won multiple court injunctions to safeguard the Constitution’s guarantee of birthright citizenship. LULAC also helped halt an unlawful deportation order targeting refugees, ensuring due process and human dignity for those seeking asylum.

Voting Rights
LULAC has also fought discriminatory laws designed to silence Latino voters. When Arizona tried to strip away Latino voting power, LULAC stepped in—and won. Major court victories in 2004, 2017, and again in 2023 stopped those attacks cold. Today, the fight continues. In Texas, LULAC is challenging racial gerrymanders—first imposed in 2021 and now resurrected in 2025 to destroy Latino-majority districts. LULAC is fighting a lawsuit in Florida to defend direct democracy against hostile new laws from Florida’s General Assembly. And nationally, LULAC has filed suit against two Trump Executive Orders aimed at suppressing the vote across the nation.

Legal Fellows Program
The LULAC Legal Defense Fund is also creating a new Legal Fellows Program enlisting law students to work on major civil rights litigation. From defending voting rights to challenging discriminatory laws in immigration, housing, education, and beyond, they are on the front lines where the stakes are highest. This initiative comes at a critical moment: Latino families are facing an unprecedented wave of policy changes and legal challenges designed to intimidate, disenfranchise, and terrorize our communities. The Legal Fellows Program puts some of the country’s brightest young legal minds to work to defending Latino civil rights today, building our next generation of leading advocates.
Support Our Mission
At LULAC, we need your help to continue our fight—inside and outside of the courtroom—to secure justice and equal opportunity for Latino families.
Why It Matters
In a time of rising threats, supporting the LULAC Legal Defense Fund means joining directly in the fight for our rights and the future of our democracy. Latino communities today face unprecedented threats against our Constitutional, legal, and human rights. The attacks on birthright citizenship, on due process, and on our right to vote are not isolated issues: they are a coordinated assault on our place in this nation. We must confront these challenges with resolve, both to defend the Latino community and to defend our democracy and its eternal aspirations to justice and equal rights. With your support, we can continue our battles to force government officials at every level of government to respect our rights and honor our dignity.
