Description

LULAC will host an in-person cafecito at CASA de Maryland on Saturday, June 25, 2022. LULAC will invite speakers from multicultural organizations to discuss the work their respective organizations are doing to address mental health, specifically in communities of color. There is a large undocumented, spanish speaking, and immigrant and refugee community in the Washington, D.C metropolitan area who are extremely vulnerable. Many of these communities have fled unstable and dangerous circumstances in their home countries and are in need of mental health services and resources.

In addition, as the COVID-19 pandemic evolved many community members were directly impacted through job loss, reduction of income, eviction, faced food insecurity, along with ongoing health concerns and being diagnosed and/or treating COVID-19 infections . These are some of the factors that have contributed to deteriorating mental health. LULAC is dedicated to helping those living with anxiety, depression, and co-occurring disorders and their loved ones find treatment, support, and resources and shed light on the need for mental health services.
